OVERVIEW
Champion School receives Title I funding to ensure that all students regardless of race and socioeconomic status are given the same opportunities to reach high levels of academic success. Title I funding targets students who are academically behind or at-risk and provides additional learning opportunities to support academic growth and proficiency.
Champion Schools receives Title I federal funding to supplement the school’s existing programs. These dollars are used for:
- Highly qualified reading and math specialists
- Paraprofessionals
- Conducting parental involvement meetings
- Classroom technology and academic resources
- Professional development for teachers
- Curriculum materials
- Extended learning hours
Champion Schools implements a schoolwide program model, meaning that all students are eligible for Title I services and can receive additional academic support in the areas of reading and mathematics.
Parental Involvement
All Title I schools emphasize the importance of bringing in parents as academic partners and each school receives funding to support this partnership. Champion Schools has developed a Parent Involvement Plan and School-Parent Compact to promote a meaningful partnership between parents, students, and Champion Schools to cultivate a culture of shared responsibility and success.
Parents Right-to-Know
As a Title I School, we must meet federal regulations related to teacher qualifications as defined in ESEA. These regulations allow you to learn more about your child’s teachers’ training and credentials. We are happy to provide this information to you. At any time you may ask:
- Whether the teacher met state qualifications and certification requirements for the grade level and subject he/she is teaching,
- Whether the teacher received an emergency or conditional certificate through which state qualifications were waived, and
- What undergraduate or graduate degrees the teacher holds, including graduate certificates and additional degrees, and major(s) or area(s) of concentration.
You may also ask whether your child receives help from a paraprofessional. If your child receives this assistance, we can provide you with information about the paraprofessional’s qualifications.

SATURDAY SCHOOL
A student can be assigned Saturday School due to missing assignments, a classgrade below a C (70%), or for excessive absences and/or tardies. Students must attend 2-4 hours, depending on how long it takes them to complete the work assigned for that day by their classroom teacher. During Saturday School, all assignments worked on and completed will be returned to the teachers for a grade to be entered into the grade book. This is a great opportunity to improve academic standings!
Saturday School times are from 8 am to 12 pm on designated Saturdays throughout the school year. These dates can be found on our website under the Handbook tab. Teachers will send home notification/ permission slips at the beginning of each week when your child is assigned Saturday School for the upcoming weekend.
